As the Delta variant of COVID-19 spreads and case counts are rising again and mask mandates are returning, people may be looking for the more effective N95 face masks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Delta variant is highly contagious.

Vaccinated people who ditched their masks now may be digging them out again.

N95 face masks are respirators that filter out at least 95% of airborne particles. The masks are tight-fitting so they restrict the amount of air that can get in around the edges and they stop more than droplets. You can find more information about N95 masks from the CDC here.

Masks that advertise approval by NIOSH means they are approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
