New skatepark in Bad Axe gets test run by local grinders

More than a half-dozen skateboarders gathered in Bad Axe City Park on Friday evening to test out the skate ramps installed in the northwest corner of the basketball courts. Above, a Bad Axe grommet wearing a brain bucket scopes out his next run.

More than a half-dozen skateboarders gathered in Bad Axe City Park on Friday evening to test out the skate ramps installed in the northwest corner of the basketball courts.

Mike Peterson of Thumb Allied Skate said his group is planning a special ceremony to dedicate the new skatepark, probably in June.

Peterson expressed his gratitude for the help of city officials and the Department of Public Works for making the group's dream a reality.
