Where to buy N95, KN95 masks as Delta variant spreads, mask mandates return

As the Delta variant of COVID-19 spreads, case counts are rising again and mask mandates are returning, people may be looking for the more effective N95 face masks to protect them from the spread of the virus.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Delta variant is highly contagious.

N95 face masks are respirators that filter out at least 95% of airborne particles. The masks are tight-fitting so they restrict the amount of air that can get in around the edges and they stop more than droplets. You can find more information about N95 masks from the CDC here.

The N95 face mask has been considered the "gold standard" for protection during the pandemic because they fit tightly and are more than 90% effective at filtering particles.

The KN95 is from China and although it also offers high effectiveness at filtering airborne particles, they fit a bit looser, allowing air in through the sides.

Masks that advertise approval by NIOSH means they are approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

Bonafidemasks.com is also taking pre-orders for children's size Powecome KN95 masks. Cost is $10.50 for a pack of 10. The company expects to ship around Aug. 26.
